A Successful First Careers Fair

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

On Thursday 26th January we held our first Careers Fair. 33 local businesses exhibited and explained to our students the opportunities available to them in their industry sector on completion of their studies. Caterpillar, who exhibited on the evening, said, "We were really impressed with the students at Oldbury Wells. They were the most interested and inquisitive students we have had the pleasure to meet and they asked some fantastic questions."

The event was organised by Head of Sixth Form, Katharine Warner, who invited the 33 businesses, universities and local apprenticeship providers and encouraged pupils from Years 9 to 13 to attend the event. There was a superb turnout on the night with over 200 pupils and parents in attendance.

Mrs Warner said, "It is such a vital part of a pupil's development and focus to better understand what opportunities are out there for them when they leave our school. We were really happy with the turnout from both local businesses and pupils and parents. We will certainly hold the event again and hope to make it even bigger and better."

Pictured at the Ambulance Service stand are: Mrs Sharon Lea, Mr Craig Singleton, Paramedic and former Science Teacher at Oldbury Wells, Ruth Lea, Year 11,
