DETAILS OF EXAM RESULTS

GCSE

Progress 8 score +0.17 (2nd best in Shropshire)– this is the government's principal examination measurement. It compares the average progress made since KS2 by students in this school with all students of the same ability nationally.  The score is based upon progress in English, mathematics, 3 EBacc subjects (Sciences, Humanities and Languages) and 3 other academically rigorous GCSE (or equivalent) subjects.

Attainment 8 score 51.71 – equivalent to a C grade. The score is based upon attainment in English, mathematics, 3 EBacc subjects (Sciences, Humanities and Languages) and 3 other academically rigorous GCSE (or equivalent) subjects.

English and maths at a Grade C or better 58%

Percentage achieving the English Baccalaureate 29% - The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is a performance measure for schools, awarded when students secure a grade C or above at GCSE level across a core of five academic subjects – English, mathematics, history or geography, the sciences and a language.

GCE (Sixth Form)

English progress +0.67   Maths progress +0.44 (The progress made by students who had not gained a GCSE grade C in English or mathematics prior to entering sixth form)

Retention (2014 -16) – 98% of students who started 6th from studies achieved their core aims.
